Quran Classes
Posted by rifaz on December 28, 2008 at 09:11 PM
By the Grace of ALLAH, MSA UTD is happy to announce Quran reading Classes to start soon Inshaa ALLAH.
If you are interested, please fill in the attached form and send it back to MSA Activities Coordinator Br. Muhammad Khan (activities-brothers@utdmsa.org).
We encourage all Muslim students (especially non-arabic speakers) to apply for these classes. We may have limited seats in the beginning, but we will try to accommodate all applicants Inshaa ALLAH.
Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him encouraged his followers to learn the Quarn as he said:
(1) "The best of you is he who learns the Qur'aan and teaches it." (Reported by Bukhari)
(2) "Will not any of you go to the Masjid and learn or read two verses from the Book of Allah 'The Exalted', Mighty and Glorified be He? (For) that is better for him than two she-camels, and three (verses) are better for him than three (she-camels), and four (verses) are better for him than four (she-camels). And the number (of verses read in total) are
better than the same number of camels." (Reported by Muslim)
(3) "There is no envy (acceptable) except in two (cases): a person whom Allah has given the Qur'aan and recites it throughout the night and throughout the day. And a person whom Allah has given wealth, that he gives out throughout the night and throughout the day." (Reported by Bukhari and Muslim)
May ALLAH guides us all to learning his book, and acting upon his words, Ameen.

Iftar Donations
Posted by Ayham on August 22, 2008 at 12:28 PM
InshaAllah, Ramadan's coming up in just a little more than a week, and like every year, we need people to sponsor iftars.
Some things to keep in mind:
1. The cost of each iftar is expected to be around $400 a night. Sponsors can donate the complete amount, or chip in for part of it.
2. People can also donate food either homemade or catered, but keep in mind that certain messy foods, like saalans and some desi liquidy deserts which are difficult to transport/store are not encouraged for obvious reasons. If catering, make sure that the food is delivered at least 5 - 10 minutes before iftar, but at the same time, it should not brought in hours early so that the food gets cold. The number of students expected to be attending each iftar is going to be about 75
3. If sponsors want to give cash/check or for any other questions they can contact:
Ayham Nahhas: 713-459-8782
Ahmed Abughazaleh: 214-235-3620
Muhammed Jehangir Khan: 469-877-7814
So get the word out to family/friends/community members/anyone else who will be interested in donating ASAP, and remember:
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity." - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 604
