LOCATION:

This program will take place in the piney woods of Navasota at Camp Allen.
The log cabins overlook Lake Coffield in a setting that is both private and serene.

CURRICULUM:
ALL COURSE CREDIT APPLICABLE TOWARDS CERTIFICATION
This program has three main courses running in parallel which reflect the three dimensions of the religion - islam, iman, and ihsan - as outlined in the famous hadith of Jibril (upon him be peace). Combining worship and intense study, students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in an environment conducive to spiritual development and growth.

Course 1: Islamic Creed - a detailed examination of Muslim belief regarding God, messengers, the Last Day, revelation and Divine Decree.
Course 2: Legal Aspects of Purity and Prayer - a study of the specific rules and exceptions of ablution, the ritual bath, and the ritual prayer. This course will provide students with the tools to fulfill the greatest pillar of practice. (Offered from both Hanafi and Shafi'i perspectives)
Course 3: "Knowledge and Wisdom" of Imam al-Haddad - This course covers the famous text of the great sage and scholar Imam Abdullah ibn 'Alawi al-Haddad. The text illuminates the mind and soul providing wisdom for spiritual growth for all Muslims.

TEACHERS:
The confirmed teachers for this program are:

Ustadh Yahya Rhodus
Ustadh Yahya was born and raised in America's midwest. At the age of 19 he became Muslim in the San Francisco Bay Area and began studying with Shaykh Hamza Yusuf and other distinguished scholars visiting from Mauritania, namely, Shaykh Khatri & Shaykh Abdullah Ould Ahmadna. In 1998, he traveled to Mauritania to further his studies of the Islamic sciences. There he spent more than 2 years learning with some of Mauritania's greatest scholars, including Shaykh Murabit al-Hajj. In 2000, he moved to Tarim, Yemen to continue his studies at the prestigious Dar al-Mustafa. There he studied with renowned scholars Habib 'Ali al-Jifri, Habib 'Umar bin Hafiz, and other local scholars. In 2005, he returned from his studies overseas to serve as a full-time teacher at Zaytuna Institute. He resides in the Bay area with his wife.

Ustadh Faraz Rabbani
After graduating from University of Toronto, Shaykh Faraz traveled abroad and studied for ten years in Damascus, Amman, and Karachi with scholars including Shaykh Adib Kallas, Shaykh Hassan al-Hindi, Shaykh Adib Kallas, and Mufti Mahmoud Ashraf Usmani. Encouraged by his instructors to return to the West to teach, he now lives in Toronto. He has two published books: Sufism & Good Character and The Absolute Essentials of Islam: A Basic Hanafi Primer on Faith, Prayer, & the Path of Salvation.

Ustadh Omar Qureshi
Omar Qureshi completed his Bachelor's degree at the University of Missouri – Columbia in Microbiology in 1995 and later obtained a M.Ed. in Science Education – Curriculum and Instruction from the same institution. As a teacher in Saudi Arabia, he also studied various Islamic Sciences with Sh. Abdallah al-Kadi and Sh. Salman Abu-Ghuddah. He continued his Islamic studies in Damascus, Syria at Ma'had al-Tahdhib wa-l-Ta'lim and privately with local Damascene scholars such as Sh. Hussain Darwish. Currently Omar is an upper school science teacher at Morgan Park Academy in Chicago. In addition to teaching, he is pursuing a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Education and Comparative Education at Loyola University Chicago, where he is focusing on Muslim moral education. He continues his studies in the Islamic sciences with Dr. Umar F. Abd-Allah and Sh. Mohammad Amin.

COST & TRAVEL:
The cost is $350 USD per student. Travel costs to Houston are not included and vary from your city of origin. Full and partial scholarships may be available .
