National Week of Student Action
Assalamualaikum,
As part of a nationwide initiative, Amnesty International at UT Dallas will be hosting the National Week of Student Action (NWSA) March 31st- April 4th, 2008. This year, the National Week of Student Action calls on Americans to speak out against illegal uses of torture and punishment by the United States under a "Counter Torture with Justice" platform. Many, if not all, of those suffering these acts of injustics are victims of profiling, and as an organization concerned about religious tolerance, supporting students advocating universal rights would be a strong gesture in the right direction.
Amnesty International is a long-established human rights organization that exposes human rights violations by engaging grassroots groups, such as the student group on campus. Please visit www.amnestyusa.org for more details on specific endeavors of Amnesty in the U.S. The events for the week include:
Monday, March 31st
Film Screening - "The Road to Guantanamo" Galaxy Rooms 7 p.m.
Tuesday, April 1st
Film Screening - "Rendition" Galaxy Rooms 7 p.m.
Wednesday, April 2nd
