Don't Mess With Texas Trash-Off
This year, Students for Environmental Awareness will be participating in the Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off, a statewide annual cleanup event sponsored by Keep Texas Beautiful and the Texas Department of Transportation. Trash-Off is also the signature litter prevention event of the Great American Cleanup, sponsored by Keep America Beautiful and takes place throughout the United States March through May. For more information on the Trash-Off, visit www.ktb.org/programs/trashoff/
Our members decided it would be best to clean up one of the parks or public areas near campus. If enough people show up, we would also like to send a group to help plant and prune trees with the Texas Trees Foundation. For more information, visit www.texastreesfoundation.org
We will gather in the Comet Cafe on Saturday April 5th at 9:30am to carpool and to make sure that everyone has a ride. Between 9:45 and 10, we will disperse to the nearby park and tree farm. Around noon, we will head back to campus and gather at the community garden near the soccer fields for lunch. SEA is prepared to provide lunch for up to 30-40 people. Anyone is welcome to help out for any amount of time, no matter how long you stay, but be sure to wear proper clothes and bring a pair of gardening gloves if you can.
If you're interested in going, please reply to SEAatUTD@gmail.com with an approximate number of people who will be coming and if they have adequate transportation for their volunteers. Thank you, and we hope to see you there!
