Meeting Start: 11:30 AMIssues to address : ( for FASTATHON )
- Too much noise
- Need speakers in the back
- Speaker needs to engage the audience ( Go Marwan ! )
- Do it outside ..or take a soccer field
- Make sure the forms are put out and make sure the food is served earlier
- No need for a Muslim registration
- Contact Rhet processors Early!
- Contact Businesses Early!
- Reflection room : Get the faculty together to try to get it .
- Sr Reem : follow up with references ( better speech )
- Tell people that they can take the dawah material home
(2 sisters leave) : Freshman rep and another one
(Service co- ordinator arrives , and another sister)
- Make sure who the Volunteers and tell them precisely what to do.
- Need more carts and trays
- Have dos and donts for the event.
- SERVING FOOD: Better coordination
- Start the program earlier.
- Evaluation form : ( Br. Essam’s monologue )

DID WE fulfill the aim of the event?! ( main aim is dawah )
Omar : More dawah..we wasted a lot of time.
Need announcement for the dawah table.
Essam : One person said : WORST FASTATHON!..( “ ii3ama” )
Ayham : Invite only
Nawal : No more sending messages to Muslims through Facebook
Essam : We are focusing on big things that take a lot of time to plan.
Why don’t we focus on small event?
Omar : Then we could have it throughout the year
Add a checkbox on the sign in sheet, asking wherether they would only fast or fast AND come
Essam : Niyyah. Dawah aspect. When you do events like this, they should have spiritual aspect .Should have an effect on us. ( Very moving speech. All the officers stunned into silence )
Hiba A : The Quran was too long ( subhanAllah ! ). Ayham : Also have the translation up on the screen during the recitation.
Speakers discussion : Imam Yousuf under the spotlight. No impromptu speeches.
Bilal : Don’t call a speaker three days before.
Once again , call Br Marwan.
Nawal : Generic outline of the Fastathon.
Fastathon topic wrapped up.
Bilal : Someone took off the booklet of the bulletin board
Nawal : someone might have taken it down.
Have ‘security’ on our Bulletin board. Glass panel with lock.
Make sure the bulletin boards are updated
Bilal interrupts : ICNA bookstore. Rambles on. Anyone interested in the quiz competition.
It’s a huge one day event event, ( the ICNA quiz competition ) : Need too many rooms.Will have to book the conference center. ( Event is at the end of February ) So we will send in a request for the conference center.
Ayham : I don’t want to do it ( busy )
Omar: Don’t mind doing it in the conference center.
Bottom line: If the conference center is available , then VOTE.
On another note….Nawal :We should keep good relationships with people outside campus. Keep in touch with them. ThankYou cards. A job for Public relations.
SHOWDOWN ! :
( incoherent talk..people ramble ..)
Days : Friday night start.
Issues to address : Accommodation, Food, Speakers, Registration, Publicity ( BIG ITEM )
Events :
- “” Bilal : an islamic pie eating contest “”
- Bilal : Dance dance revolution ( mashAllah ). Br Esam is not pleased at all.
- T- Shirt design completion
- Video about the MSA competition :
a) Life at UTD in various buildings
b) Little movies acted out by people
Judges : Don’t judge the completion were competing in. A judge from lone star council.
Qualified judges
- Brothers wrestling
- Br and sisters basketball : 3 on 3 ( Short games )
- Sisters kickball
- Soccer : 5 on 5
- Room reservation : Tajweed,
- Halo tournament.
Plan events so that they don’t overlap.
NO bonfire. Phase 3 MAYBE---theres a pit
( theres a lot of murmuring ..i cant get what they’re talking about ..Bilal dozes off )
Basketball and wrestling on Saturday
Some schools bring approx 4 people. Other schools bring around 8 ppl.
Important: MSA should pay Bilal’s rent because theres MSA stuff all over the apartment.
MSA should pay for Guitar hero for Ayham/MJK apartment.
